IN CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Zuko
Canon: Avatar: the Last Airbender
OU/AU/OC: OU
Canon Point: End of Book One(season one)
History: This is as thorough a biography as they come. In particular, this is a detailed account of his actions in season one. I'll be taking him from the very end, literally right after he falls asleep on the raft at sea.

Personality: At first glance, Prince Zuko is your typical spoiled teenager -- selfish, arrogant, impossible to please, and using people to get whatever he wants. Few can stand him long enough to see anything beyond this, and to an extent he prefers it this way. Of course, none of these observations are inaccurate, but there's much more to him than just a hotheaded jerk.

Zuko is headstrong and driven above almost all else; while many would probably call him ruthless, he does have a very strong idea of what right and wrong mean, and what should and should not be. He has no patience for people who don't agree with him, and while he usually ignores those who don't exactly see the way he does, he's very quick to lash out if said person pushes the issue. He doesn't have much of a sense of humor, either, unless it involves someone he doesn't like being severely inconvenienced.

While he does care about people he's close to, in a sort of odd way, he's slow to actually care about anyone, and once he does that doesn't exempt the person from occasional angry outbursts. He's solitary by nature, or he likes to think he is, and even attempts at help or friendship from people he hasn't already placed his trust in are usually met with hostility. He has quite a bit of pride about him, and part of his self-imposed isolation comes from his desire to avoid facing how much he'd 'fallen' from his original position. The rest is simply due to his stunted social skills. Solitude cultivates strength, as far as Zuko is concerned, and he will not let other people weaken him. He will also not let other people keep him from the things he feels he deserves.

He is, on a slight tangent, very patriotic. He loves his country and his people, and takes his position therein very seriously. His desperation to get back home is partially fueled by this; he wants his throne, obviously, and believes it to be his destiny to rule over the Fire Nation, but it is due to his devotion to his people that he takes his destiny so seriously. Of course, being turned into a dragon and transported to another dimension throws a wrench in the works, but he still holds out a hope of somehow returning home and taking his place as crown prince once again.

Strengths: Having spent much of his life in training, Zuko has gained considerable physical prowess. He wields twin Dao swords as his favored weapons, though he can use most others with varying degrees of skill. He also owns a small pearl dagger that he can fight with and throw with some accuracy, though as it was a gift from his uncle he prefers to use it as little as possible. In addition to this, Zuko is also adept at hand-to-hand fighting, using quick, powerful attacks coupled with evading and dodging rather than blocking or defending. He is exceptionally quick and agile and can sneak very capably when he needs to.

His most recognizable skill is his firebending, however. While no master, he is quite proficient with pyrokinetics, able to face off against those much more talented than him -- on his good days(He bested a naval commander in unarmed combat three episodes into the series). He won't have the same sort of control over fire as a dragon, being only able to breathe fire and withstand massive amounts of it(and lava), but he'll learn to compensate.

On a mildly related note, while Zuko has a habit of talking down to almost everyone, he will look out for those he has responsibility for, be they his own troops or people allied with them. He postures a lot, but he won't go out of his way to hurt someone. If a beatdown needs to take place, he'll challenge the person to a fair fight rather than taking them by surprise. There are, of course, exceptions to this, but for the most part Zuko fights honorably rather than subversively.

Weaknesses: Oftentimes Zuko far too hotheaded(pun very intended) to take advantage of his talents to the fullest extent, acting without thinking and using up all his energy much too quickly. His plans are usually half-baked at best when he decides to go through with them, and it's very common to find him in a situation that he doesn't know how to get out of.

Personality-wise, Zuko is a difficult person to get along with. He drives people away, partially on purpose, and even if he does form a friendship with someone he's still rather dramatic and high-maintenance. Most of his life was spent around family and the people that his family commanded, so he never really learned how to behave around "common people."

While this could be considered a personality strength, it is most definitely a combat weakness that's come back to bite him more than once: Zuko does not kill. Even when he has the position to and the freedom to, he'll refrain, and that leaves his enemies free to come after him with more force now that he'll avoid using lethal force when he can.

Also, he hoards things now. He's a dragon; it's how they do. It'll confuse him at first, and then it'll probably just start to irritate everyone around him.

Possessions: 2x Dao swords, 1x pearl-hilted dagger, 1x Fire Nation helmet reshaped to fit a dragon's head. Because.

Pony/Animal Type: DRAGON heck yeah. Honestly, he would work as a unicorn, but at his core he's a firebender and the origin of firebending comes from the old dragons of his world. It's a species more connected to who he is, and since they're playable here it's the direction I'd like to go in.

Cutie Mark: N/A

Pony DRAGON Picture: TBA. He still has his scar, though.

SAMPLES

First Person: So... is everyone here from some crazy other world, or what? Some of us have business to take care of and being brought to this stupid pony place is getting in the way of MY plans. I can't afford to disappear, okay? I have a mission that only I can complete, and this is just getting in the way! Whoever had this stupid idea had better reverse it now, because it's not funny. I have an Avatar to capture and a throne to reclaim, and I'm not going to let being turned into a dragon get in the way of my mission!

Third Person: A dragon body, while closer to a human than a pony (thumbs!), was still a difficult one to get used to. He couldn't throw flame from his wrists anymore; he was restricted to firebreathing, and that, along with a million other things, seemed designed purely to annoy him. His body was bulky, he had wings that got in the way of dodging and rolling... what was he supposed to do? Just roar and swipe at things with his claws?

...Well, that didn't actually seem like such a bad idea. Still, it wasn't how he was used to fighting. His swords had been brought with him and he did still have thumbs, so he could wield them properly, which was more than he could have gotten. being able to fly was an advantage he wasn't used to having, too; being able to get the drop on an enemy literally would be a valuable skill. Without Iroh to teach him and without a viable way to get back home, though, he found himself stunted and frustrated, hacking and slashing at trees to take his mind off the situation when he wasn't ranting at scrolls.

At least he had the presence of mind not to burn the whole forest down... yet.
